Written Work
Students enroll in HIS165 will have to fulfill the following written requirements. Links and Due Dates for each of these assignments will be place in the course webpage.
A. Reading Summaries: You will be asked to do ONE reading summary. They are intended to measure your progress, level of understanding of the reading material and you ability to from questions for class discussion.
B. Group Position Paper: Students will be assigned to a small group for the semester where they will write a TWO position papers around a particular set of readings and questions. Also, each member of the group will hand in a group evaluation for each paper.
C. Position Paper: You have to write TWO position papers during the course of the semester.
D. Paper: One 8 to 10 pages paper is required of all students and is due during the next to last week of classes. Normally the paper will be based on no fewer than five sources and will demonstrate an understanding of the normal apparatus of scholarly work (footnotes, bibliography, etc.). No topic can be completed using the resources found on the Web. Paper topics will be given during the first Week of Classes.
Throughout the semester you are required to turn in components of your work for evaluation. For example: outline of paper, sources, theme, and introductory paragraph. Your will be grade on this exercises.
HIS567
Students enrolled in HIS567 shall be required to produce a significantly longer research papers, 15 to 20 pages and to write a historiographical essay on the research topic.
Graduate students will write four position papers (individually) and two Reading Summaries.
