Modern Latin America
Guidelines
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is mandatory. You can have three un-excuse absences during the semester. After that I will take 3 points for each absence from the final grade.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are having problems with the readings, the lectures, or just want to discuss further any aspect of the course (from content to class dynamics), I strongly encourage you to see me during office hours or to make an appointment. Please don’t wait until late in the semester to express these concerns.
Assignments Guidelines
All assignments MUST be word processed, unless otherwise stated. There are NO exceptions. All assignments must be typewritten (for more see below); you must use a 12 point font of reasonable size, such as Times New Roman or Times, with 1.25″ margins. If these requirements are NOT met, the instructor may return it to you and/or may refuse to grade your assignment until the formatting is appropriate.
All citations must follow the Chicago Manual of Style; they may appear as either footnotes or endnotes. Failure to meet any of these guidelines may result in the assignment NOT being accepted. At the very least, the assignment will receive a grade deduction. This is at the instructor’s discretion.
All writing assignments should be well organized, possess good grammar, and no spelling errors; essays and writing submitted with such errors will be penalized.
All written work must be submitted in class on their respective due dates.
Attendance of course meetings is mandatory and participation will be graded.
